Overall, the construction is good. Decent weight, if on the slightly heavy side. It is a replica, so I wasn't expecting much of a blade, even after reading reviews that say the blade is sharp. It is, however, at least a 45 degree angle on the cutting edge. I'll be removing some metal to get an edge on there, hopefully reducing the weight a little bit. Overall, it's what you pay for, good or bad.

I bought two of these beasts. the pictures do NOT do it justice. these things are HUGE. Heavy, but not too heavy. they are beautiful. Like others have said in their reviews these will easily devastate any one on the business end of them. I wouldn't put any of my precious swords up against them. these brutes would destroy just about any blade that opposes it. great price. Well Done, True Swords.

Awesome sword. Solid, full-tang and heavy. If I spent a couple of hours a day swinging this thing around, I would probably look like Leonidas before long. Very pleased.

I am a dealer of guns and cutlery. I have seen knives come and go. But when I saw this sword up close and personal that a client ordered. I HAD to have one for myself. It is very well made and very heavy. I am also a moderator of a zombie site called WICKEDZOMBIES.COM and let me tell you. If you want a quality sword to survive a zombie apocalypse with. Then THIS is the sword for you hands down. It's like I said before. Strong, we'll made, and even takes an edge great! If you get any sword at all. Get this one. For the money. You CANT go wrong.

Honestly great heavy sword that looks of the period. Feels great in the hand and could obviously do some serious damage. I'm going to be making a lot of fruit salad with this baby! You just can't go wrong, especially if you like 300.

I absolutely love this sword. I'm am a sword collector and feel this is a must have for any collection. Beautifully made and the only compliant I have is the faux leather on the handle but it's still a great buy!

This sword is awesome! First thing you notice is how heavy it is, like 6lbs or so, heavy enough to feel like a warrior. The only 'bad' thing is that the handle was extremely lose, and not just the leather wrap, I mean the 'handle' its self, its full tang, but the wood part was lose. I repaired it best I could, but it's still lose so when you swing it, it knocks in ypur hand (and as from what I read mine is not the only handle issue,) the blade has some 'bubbles' here and there and knicks but it looks more battle worn so I like it. But all in all a great sword. Its only 30 bucks and as such it great, if this was an exact replica for 80-100 dollars id expect more, but it looks and feels like im in 300, and as a spartan at heart, this thing is beautiful. Buy it you wont be disappointed. THIS IS SPARTA!!

Seriously, you can't complain for 29 bucks to get this much metal chopping power. I redid the handle wrap first thing, shimmied the blade to get rid of a slight wobble. I was expecting these things having read other reviews. Once that was taken care of, it was simply awesome. I tested it on branches outside that needed trimming, and the hardest thing is the weight of this thing. You almost have to use two hands to control it properly. If mine ever breaks, I'm totally getting another one!

SHARP, HEAVY DUTY, WORKS A LOT BETTER THAN MY MACHETES. SLICES THROUGH 2 TO 3 INCH SAPLINGS WHEN CLEARING UNDERGROWTH LIKE A HOT KNIFE THROUGH BUTTER. BOUGHT ONE FOR MY SON AND ONE FOR ME AND WE'RE GOING TO GET TWO MORE FOR DISPLAY BECAUSE THEY ARE SUCH NICE LOOKING PIECES. Seriously if you want to build muscle this will put a lot of muscle on from swinging it.

This sword is HEAVY! Much heavier than I was expecting, but that's a good thing. I feel powerful swinging this beast around. It is very accurate to the 300 movie and makes you feel like a Spartan. I definitely recommend this astonishing blade!

awesome, cut down a 6-8" oak to test it and blade held up perfect.handle was plastic and came apart so I replaced it with friction tape from electrical supply. Good combo for ax, hatchet and machete.

Wow. I really underestimated how heavy the sword really was! My heaviest sword didn't even weigh as much, and it was twice the size! Really great and really sturdy. I buried the blade in a solid oak log and nearly split it in half on the first swing. Nothing came loose and the blade is still sharp.

This sword is crazy! You will not find anything remotely close to this sword for 30 dollars. It is well made, dense, and very heavy. The handle is a little shaky, but some work will fix that. And just for you history buffs out there, this sword is not an Exact replica. The traditional sword, which this sword is modeled after, is the Kopis, It is roughly the same, the handle is very similar, but the blade is a little exaggerated. This sword is amazing though! I would recommend in a heart beat!

This is one massive and bad**s sword. It absolutely dwarfs my previous Spartan sword. I love the rough and rustic look of the blade, it makes the sword look like an authentic and well preserved antique. I was surprised how big and heavy it is. The sword handle is large enough to be used two handed. Swinging it around is quite a workout. The blade is slightly sharp, but heavy enough to cut through most things you hit with this thing, and if it doesn't cut it, it will crush it. It's matching leather scabbard is also sturdy and very well made. All and all I find this sword to be very sturdy and well made.

This sword was awesome while I had it! This thing was sharp right out of the box,cut through milk jugs like butter! However,it will cut through nails but it will also put a nasty nick in the blade so,unless you know how to take a deep nick out of the blade,DON'T DO IT! (P.S. I used a 4 in whetstone t get that nick out,BEAT THAT! LOL!) The leather wrap came off the first week I had it so I used gorilla wood glue on it and it never came off again. I suggest when you get this, unscrew the pommel and put a washer between the handle and the pommel,it'll keep you from cracking the handle like I did when I had to tighten the pommel. All in all,a very nice sword, have fun cutting bottles!

Had to tighten up the handle. Still needs work. However this is one bad**s monster. I would not hesitate to amputate any part of the human body. It's heavy!!! If your man ENOUGH!!! I own one. Its a work out!!! Heavy dependable killer!!!

Sword blade is darker than in the picture *Remember description said black* (personally I like it)
Made in China as you could guess, but seems a pretty solid job; can’t go wrong with Carbon Steel.
Weight is definitely there so, just be sure you've got the muscle if you intend to swing it.
Intimidating & cool looking fictional sword that came as it is was exactly described.
*Just remember no scabbard, so think of where to store/display ahead of time*
For the price, you're getting what you paid for and, happy to say, then-some. Great buy.
Thank you True Swords!

Solid, wicked-looking sword. After reading the reviews, I carefully unwrapped the faux leather handle, covered the exposed grip with good strong glue, and re wrapped the handle. Took only a few minutes. Grip is now solid. Awesome display piece and excellent fallback in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse.

Awesome sword. it came sharp and pre-oiled.
mine didnt match the picture, i got a darker handle wrap, and the blade is black, except where its sharpend, so that kinda matches, but it looks great and feels Very solid. This is my second buy from trueswords and im still loving it.

This sword is absolutely amazing. Its as if it were forged from the hands of Hephaestus himself. I bought 300 of these for me and my 'personal guard'. We have currently held off wave after wave of Persian scum, and only a few of the swords have broken. It is my belief that this sword can even make a god-king bleed. If you get this review, please send reinforcements.

this sword is sick, especially when its in your hands!!
everything feels, looks, and is solid..the picture does not give the blade itself justice, all over the sword there are little dents and nicks to give it a rugged look along with the wicked curve of the blade. also mine came with an alright edge but i dont really intend on beating this thing up so no worries but once agian trueswords has done it 5 of 5

This was my first order from trueswords.com and it is the most STUNNING sword i have ever seen! It comes at an amazing low price and came two days earlier than i expected. The pictures on this product do not even begin to show how good this sword looks. It comes factory pre-oiled, but if you slightly dampen a cloth or a paper towel, you can take the oil right off! But make sure to dry it too. The sword has an antique look to it and just holding it makes you feel like you are taking a jump back into history! The handle nicely fits into your hand. The sword is HUGE. It was way bigger than i thought it would be, but thats is perfectly fine with me! I recommend this sword to everyone, including first time buyers.

I have to start off by saying I was by far the most skeptical person in buying anything from this site. I have been shopping around for about a week and I finally realized True Swords has the lowest prices. Let me tell you... This thing is F*cking amazing... If your female it may be a little heavy but us true Spartan Men should have no problem. The detail and look of the sword have completely blown my entire perception of reality into question. For 5 minutes I was swinging this sword at the box it came in... Leonidus by my side all the way... Buy this I promise you will not be dissapointed...

NOT TO MENTION I GOT MINE IN ONLY 2 DAYS!!!

=)

This is an amazing sword. The hilt is large enough for two-handed use but is not too large for one handed use. Aged look gives off a much better look than the cheaper model. Now if only true swords would make a life-sized model of the kings helmet or a spartan spear, I will never use another site again. THIS IS SPARTA!

I just got received this sword today and i am speechless! (which is why i am typing) The amount of detail and precision is aw-inspiring , i am so glad i bought this. Be warned, it is larger, though not by a massive amount, then the ones in the movie, but because it is a display, i think it was a great idea to up the size a little. The only problem i had was when i opened in, the shine on the sword irritated me because the swords in the movie aren't very shiny, but then i remembered its the protected oil, so i just wiped it of and it is GORGEOUS! Fairly sharp too!. THANK YOU TRUE SWORDS, now make the Spartan Shield and I will NEVER order from another website again!

My first folded steel blade. I like the real feel of heft in this sword/sledgehammer! It holds an edge surprisingly well considering that even the minimum amount of force exerted on it is quite a bit. The bottom of the pommel that curves up, spins around freely with little effort so be cautious of this when defending. All in all, I'm gaining more respect for TrueSwords! Their prices are killer deals for what you get to wield! Protect, Respect and Reflect folks!

Well, Its An Overall AWESOME Sword, I LOVE It, Probably Wont Be doing Any Serious Chopping With It On Anything More Dangerous Than A Cardboard Box, The Leather Is wrapped Loose So It came Off Right Away, I Had Some Extra Pleather Lying About And Rewrapped It With That And Superglue. Overall, Nice Sword, Heavy As HELL, But Just As Cool.

It stabbed a truck box camper with minimum effort. The handle broke after a couple of swings on a stump. Sunk into the stump nearly past the groove! Fix the handle with steel strips and a welder and you'll have one hell of a waylay club if the blade ever dulls just turn it around and use the blunt edge. I got for an axe and it will make a great demolition tool as well, put a razor sharp edge on it. Will be back for the sheath! Thanks.

For $30, this sword is outstanding. It came sharp out of the box and is outstandingly thick, not to mention pretty heavy. The blade is made of a sturdy steel, and this thing can take some punishment! I've put this weapon to the test dozens of times over the three years I've owned it and it has always held up, cutting whatever I put it up against. The only complaint I have is that the sword isn't full tang, but I suppose you can't expect that from a $30 sword. Because of this my blade is becoming loose, but considering that's after three years, I can't complain. It's still pretty sturdy. One other nitpick is how they claim it's " an exact replica of the sword carried by the famed King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans at the Battle of Thermopylae.", which is untrue. No one knows what Leonidas' real sword looks like. This is a replica of the swords used in the movie "300". But with that said, it is a very accurate replica. If you're looking for a cool and usable sword for a low price, the spartan sword is what you're looking for.

Great sword for the money! Like everybody else mentioned, the handle is a bit loose ( but NOT dangerous) and the leather wrap a bit flimsy. I unscrewed the bottom, took off the wrap, sanded the wood part a little (so I could turn the handle bottom piece one more turn to tighten it up a bit), shot clear silicone inside the wood handle so it wouldn't rattle and wrapped it with a Wilson tennis racket grip. Now it's solid, doesn't rattle and the grip is great and comfortable! Ready to take on the Persians! I use it for Eskrima practice.

This sword is top quality. I would have given it five stars if the handle was better secured but it is a simple and quick fix. Simply pop off the top plate on the handle, shim the inside of the wooden handle, use some liquid glue to fill the void and reattach the top but add a lock washer. Existing handle is thin wood so treat gently. The sword itself is very sharp and I don't think you would be doing yourself a favor by sharpening it anymore. The blade is sharp enough to slice through small trees and like an axe, if sharpened too much will chip easily. Another poster mentioned the full tang is a rat tail. I wouldn't call it that, it is slightly less wide than where the blade goes through the hilt but that is of necessity due to the handle design. I picture a rat tail as being very narrow as on a metal file. It is anything but that. It is a heavy, well built and designed blade and worth far more than the $29.00 price. Any one on the pointy end of this weapon is going to turn an run if they have any sense at all.

This thing is beastly. Nearly more of a bludgeon than a sword. That said, it's sharp enough to cut things out of the box. It's not razor sharp, however, I sort of suggest treating it more like an axe than a sword in this regard, a razor edge will dull quickly, a broader wedge like edge will hold its shape better and still cut well with this sword's weight behind it. The handle and tang are where I've found issue though. The leather hide handle wrap will fall apart after some use (no big deal), and the wooden handle underneath is not particularly secure or sturdy, so that too may break after use. It is nearly full tang through the hilt, but terminates in a rat tail tang which attaches the pommel with a nut and washer to the tang. Neither the guard, nor the pommel are well secured. It'll take some modification to make hilt as sturdy as the blade proper. As a display piece, this is perfect as is. As a functional piece, it will take some modification to make it entirely safe for long term use. You would be hard pressed to do better for the price. This thing will definitely take a lot of punishment.

It was really cool unboxing it, It had some weird oil on it, but awesome overall. I swung it around a few times and the leather handle started to come off =(, but its easily fixable. heavy somewhat, durable, great style. I'm afraid to hit something with the sword because it looks "just to dang Wicked!". If I need a quick sword for defense I would grab this club of metal.

Killer Sword! Heavy! Just like i wished it to be. The handle a bit loose but i can fix that. The blade is what is important. Very nice edge and will be scary sharp when i am done.

Handel was loose and the leather wrapping unrivaled after the first day. With that said i still love this sword!! If you looking for a great wall hanger this is the sword for you right out the box, but if you're looking to chop some s#!t up or remove some limbs you're gonna have to put a little work into it. All in all great sword for the price, great balance and impressive weight.

This sword was the dullest thing ever. But that really didn't matter because I use it for display, but if it was sharp it would be way cooler.

What a massive hunk of steel! Not sharp at all but it doesn't need to be, I would consider it more of a bludgeoning/piercing weapon than a slashing weapon because of the weight and it comes to a nice point. Enough handle on it to be used two-handed if you have sm/med hands. I'm sure you could probably put a better edge on it with a machine wheeled grinder. I also bought the scabbard for it which I also recommend/suggest.

WOW..... I thought at first 30 bucks i get what i get, but i am totally impressed. First off the weight alone is intimidating at right around 12 Lbs., And for as thick as the blade is it is satisfyingly sharp. Bought the Sheath as well which is also worth the extra 20 bucks. well constructed and real leather, it fits perfect. The only thing that would make it a 10 is if it was full tang, the blade sits just the slightest bit loose in the hilt. Other then that i WILL be ordering another. 4.5 a truly great piece

This is a powerful, heavy duty sword, and will indeed cut nails and coins in half. The edge required some sharpening, but an Accusharp or axe grinder can fix that. The point is sharp from the get go. I threw this sword point-first at a tree, and it took a bit of effort to get it out. It is rather heavy, so it will require a bit of heft to wield. Overall, a great sword for the price.

Its a good product for an excellent price. Of course we all know that the handle wrap sucks, and my guards started to loosen up. Its awesome to show off and put on display, but watch what you try to cut! My friend bought one and and used it on a camping trip... he broke it lol.

this sword is sweet...and the spartans swords didnt look anything close to this they were more of a gladius type sword...and its for show not use stop complaining about the grip.

Got it to see if it would be worth the $30 and for the thick steel it is, but other wise not so much. Out of the box the tip was chipped off and it looks like some one slipped with the grinder and buffed off some of the "finish" a few inches from the end. It has cheap handle wrap and the wood under neither was loose and already cracked. The blade has an edge but i wouldn't call it sharp. The tang (yes it came apart) actually runs down into the handle which is not what i expected but gad that it does...or did rather. At the end was a welded on bolt to hold the pommel on and there lay the problem of the main break. All that and i would recommend it? Yes as the title says for the steel or a wall hanger. I'm not overly disappointing that it broke; for $30 i expected it, and in some ways wanted it, to so i could make it my own.

First off, this sword is pretty cheap in quality. The first day I received the sword, the "leather" handle fell apart; therefore, I painted it anodized red over the wood handle. The sword is very top heavy and could use some sharpening. I sharpened mine and it is "Spartan" ready. It is almost as sharp as Cold Steel's Gladius. That thing was a beast. I almost cut my finger off handling that blade. I recommend buying the Gladius over this Spartan sword. I bought the sword due to its low price. I will invest in a more sturdy sword, possibly one that is a true replica of the sword used in the motion picture, 300.

this is a ok decent sword. I broke it after slicing a 2 liter mnt dew bottle on my 4th strike, but hey for the price you can always buy more :) its a good sword for display and fairly durbale depending on if you don't torture it !

I really liked the sword overall, its very heavy steel wich works for me because im a big guy.the handle was absolute crap though, had to take it apart and re assemble to stop wiggling and give it a sure tight grip. like the point and chopping edge

This massive hunk of metal arrived today. Looks just like the one from the movie "300". The handle was loose. VERY loose. And the cheap naugahide hilt wrapping slid around madly. Taking the butt cap cover off (use a utility knife to pick under the edge), there was some white hard chalky stuff I am guessing is the pass-off for epoxy. So I took the entire handle assembly apart and used GORILLA GLUE on the wooden dowel, filled the large cavities in the tang to hilt fit-up, and then re-tightened the nut on the rat-tail tang tip. I re-wrapped the cheapie naugahide wrapping and glued it down as well. Now, the sword has a super-solid feel, no wiggle, wobble, or clicking. Plus, the gorilla glue expands to fill voids and sticks it all together as one unit. Good project sword. Do not expect much out of box. It is unusable with the hilt so wobbly and loose. The metal of this thing is ...WOW. Were I a man, I might be able to swing this with some confidence. However, I just do not have arm and shoulder strength for this sword. I am no weak woman, but this sword is HEAVY. I mean...HEAVY. The edge on this sword is sharp enough from whatever part of the world it is made in. With the weight and cleaver geometry of this sword, you do not need a katana edge to destroy something with it. I have no idea how well the metal will hold up under usage. I'll give it to my boyfriend and let him chop wood stumps out or something, I dunno. It looks wicked cool, and since I LOVE the movie 300, I had to buy this dumb thing just so I could say I have props from it.

for the low price this is a fun piece. for function i want the same thing in a recreational piece as i'd need for actual self-def, which is to be easy to wield, same goes for all weapons for me the grip has to be right and balance/etc. right. i'm 6' 200lbs but this is a bit heavy and long for me, worst thing is handle is loose/wobbles some, and the blade arrives totally unsharp. but for the "molon labe" reference it makes a good display piece for me. for the backyard i want something i can swing better, and same if i had to self-def with it.

The best thing it has going for it is the price. Its got a good weight and the tip is nice and solid. The large spring wont lock very well when it first pops out, but a second swing gets it locked.

The add claims it will "Cut through Nails". It "the blade" did once. Then the guard came loose and the pommel. Both the guard and pommel were hollowed out and thus very weak.

The 1st time I tried to use the 300 sword I was cutting bamboo stalks. The handle broke into 3 pieces. I took the leather wrap off. The back end of the sword is cheaply made ie $30. the metal pommel is held in by a nut, washer, and some type of glue. This is a wall hanger sword, do not use to chop!

Wow! I just got the sword and the tip of the sword already broke off. So so cheap. The leather on the sword came off the next day, and the handle is twisting around whenever i swing it. I would not recommend this to anyone. Unless you want a show sword and never touch it ever.

This sword is an amazing sword as a wall hanger. If you intend to use this to try to even cut a piece of 2 by 4 it will chip, break, and the handle will come lose and sometimes come off. I purchased 2 of these and one is already broken and the other is very chipped. All in all I would never recommend anyone to buy this unless to use it as a wall hanger or a movie prop because the blade is made of a cheap metal and the handle is basically leather and glue.
